Travel around the Highlands and islands could be transformed by huge zero-carbon airships, a new report has concluded.
The study into the potential of the helium-filled Airlander vehicles found that a reliable network for passengers and freight could be established using existing airports.
It indicated that less than £2 million would need to be invested in infrastructure to make the blimps a viable form of transport.
That would involve some additional land being purchased in certain areas along with requirements for new drainage and lighting as well as retractable signage.
There would also need to be mooring masts and ground anchors installed to tether the airships
